2001 Job 1 -186,000. Just replaced the radiator recently. KYB shocks at 185,000, water pump at 151,000, fuel pump at 145,000, thermostat housing at 120,000, heater core at 105,000 and ball joints at 110,000
Thanks for your responses Uncle_Bob and Holleyman. I change the oil every 5k. Sometimes I may have to add 1/2 pint between changes. Looks like I will stick to the 5W30.
I have 175,000 on my 2001, Gen One and about to change the oil. I've been using 5-30 synthetic, either Mobil One or Penzoil since I purchased it new. Should I now be using a higher grade considering the mileage?
Sintec,
I spoke with my friend who works at AAA in California. You can obtain a One Trip Permit from the California DMV which allows you to purchase a vehicle from a dealer in Calif and immediately remove it from the state (within a reasonable amount of time). The permit cost about $35 and...
Rich,
That's my understanding also. The pay is forfeited. Once they pass a budget they will not be able to receive retroactive pay. The forfeited pay goes into the general fund.
KL- This clown is my assemblyman but I didn't vote for him. I emailed him about this yesterday and did chastise him about living paycheck to paycheck. His comment about having to explain to his wife and kid about not being able to pay the bills is another typical political propaganda as his...
The Dems budget was a fraud as it included tax increases, which required a 2/3 vote, which they fell short of as well as revenue sources that were never going to be realized, such as sale of public buildings which the governor opposed. The only reason this sham budget was passed was so that the...
[Broken External Image]:[IMG]Saw this in the news today showing Libyan rebels driving around in what looks to be a Sport Trac. Can anyone verify which make this is?
My first car was a 1966 Chevy Impala with a 283 back in 1969 when I went to college. Paid about $1,400. A little over a year later I traded it in for a new 1969 GTO Judge. Wish I still had that.
My son's first car was a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am in 2006 before his senior year in high school...
This is an update from my previous post about lawsuit against Ford regrading a rollover of a 2002 Sport Trac. For a change the jury, especially in Los Angles, displayed common sense and ruled in Ford's favor.
The plaintiff's lawyer argued that the rollover could have been avoided if...
A lawsuit is underway in Los Angeles against Ford because of a 2002 Sport Trac overturning, resulitng in a paralyis of an 11 year old passenger. The lawyer is claiming that an electroinc stability control feature along with a lower center of gravity would have prevented the rollover. Ford...

Here's a link to an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal last year regarding what Ford has to go through in importing the vehicle. By classifying it as a passenger vehicle they pay a 2.5% tariff verses a 25% tariff on a...
The bracket under the dash holding the emergency brake release handle came loose. I tried reinstalling the bracket but the screws keep spinning but don't tighten, so the bracket is still loose. Is there a clip that the screws need to catch on? I can get my finger behind the screw on the left...
2001 Job 1 purchased new in July 2001. Now has 109K miles on it. Only problems I've had was the air conditioner compressor blew out last year and the heater core this year.

There was an article today about the results from a study from the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Ohio analyzing data from 100 emergency rooms. The study showed that between 1990 to 2007 there were 300 deaths due to furniture falling on people. 93%...
It's not only the Jiffy Lubes that are problems. Some of the independent garages are just as bad or worse. I had my mom take her Sable in to a local place that we had used and were pleased with his work. She just needed some basic service plus a transmission flush. The owner took on a new...
I picked up a DieHard battery charger/maintainer from Sears last week for a car I don't drive too often. It's supposed to charge up the battery and maintain the charge like a trickle charge. So far it's working and it's only $22.99 this week. SKU #71219
