I was having this same noise. Had it checked and my front tires were cupped. Moved the tires to the back criss-crossing and the noise is gone. I will be replacing the tires soon.

@ roberto -Thanks for posting this topic. I am having the same issue but haven't really paid much attention to it. I have 270,776 miles on my 2001 ST. @Yardsale...mine does it mostly during a warm/hot start after sitting from a few minutes to 2-3 hours. Not a problem with cold starts.

Mine tends to go blank when it gets hot outside. I found that if I hit it 2-3 times on the passenger side of the display it will come back on so you may want to try that. I do remember reading somewhere that one of the resistors works loose on the board and resoldering will fix the problem.
