My 3rd brake light was burned out in my -01 ST so I went to replace the bulb and found that the socket the bulb goes into looks like it got hot and is now deformed. I can put a new bulb in but the bulb does not stay on since the socket is deformed. Is the socket replaceable or do I need to replace the complete cable? I assume I can find these in a parts yard. If not, can someone post the p/n's I need?

Thanks in advance!

Marvin

Any auto parts store should have a replacement socket. What you'll have to do is purchase the replacement, then simply splice and wire in the new replacement. It's cheap to do and shouldn't cost you more than $10.

If you have to, consider replacing the whole works with an LED set-up. I've had one for 10 years. I haven't had to do anything to it since I installed it.

If that's the Recon product you're referring to, things may have changed. i was seriously considering their LED until I read these threads.

Thanks for the input. I will try the local parts stores. If no luck there, I will try a parts yard. Does anyone know what years and vehicles would have the same harness as a 2001 ST?

We stopped selling recon....

They SUCK !!
