Update: I bought neither. I found a loaded new '10 Lincoln MKZ AWD at a huge discount. I pick it up tonight. It's a large step up from the Focus. MPG will be significantly less than Focus, but better than truck.

If you don't care about mpg, nor do much wet driving, get them. They are excellent for preventing foreign objects from puncturing. I've had a few nails, etc. but no flats. I'm a believer in the Kevlar. On my rwd Hemi Aspen, they break loose real easily in the rain (starting or cornering)...

I'd even enjoy a new ST based on the new Explorer platform. Colorado/Canyon are probably the worst trucks on the road. I had a '95 Dakota 318 Magnum, short bed, st cab, 2wd, 3.92 gears, and it was a very fun truck in a straight line. I do not like the current gen Dakotas.

My current commute is 47 mi/day. I was making 17mpg in my ST. Focus is 28-30. That's a significant difference. However, the Focus is $19 more/month to insure (stupid). That offsets some of the gas, but not much. On average, I drive 1k/mo. The Focus saves about $70/mo on gas alone...

True that a V6 ST is not much quicker than a Focus, but it is. Trust me, with a family of 4, the Focus (ATX) can barely get out of it's own way. A 4.0 ST has the torque to at least feel like it's moving. Unless you've driven a Focus with 500# of weight added, you won't know what I mean. My 05...

Bed Mat SOLD to Todd Z, and was picked up last night. I will e-mail Gerry Mac tonight on the Extender. I can easily hang on to it that long. It's safely hanging in my garage -- out of the way of everything else.
