    New Plugs and Wires

Hey, all. Well, finally did the plugs and wires (fuel and air filter too) at 123,000. The plugs were a little "screechy" coming out, as one member had said, but I took my time and let 'em rest a little between turns, and all 6 came out without much other trouble. The passenger side was a bear...

    2004 sport trac

Not to go off-topic, but it's been a while since I've posted regularly. swshawaii, are you a mechanic/certified? It sounds like it. Glad to meet you! (Online, anyway!)

    2004 sport trac

I recheck, clean and inspect all of my main, under the hood connections for my battery and fuse box mains every two years or so. This has fixed an issue or two for me. Frame/chassis and battery-to-block grounds, also, if you live in a Northern, rust-prone state. Rust never sleeps, and rust can...

    window seal

Again, with swshawaii on this one. Window tracks build up crud over the years, which adds to any problem, and hurts a potential fix. Denatured alcohol, and an old microfiber cloth on a trim tool or popsicle stick would be good to clean this area up before applying any type of sealant. Let us know...

Weird sound coming from the driver side wheel well

With swshawaii on this one. Gonna have to jack it up to unload the suspension. Wheel bearing or a hub (on 4x4) will either produce a squeak, growl, moan, or other unpleasant noise when the wheel is spun. If a bearing is really bad, you may not be able to spin it at all by hand due to the worn...

Weird sound coming from the driver side wheel well

Hey, Kegger. A leaning (usu. inward) wheel assembly is almost always an upper ball joint gone south, common on smaller Ford vehicles. Inside wear on a front tire with a level-appearing wheel assembly (when viewed from the front, straight on) most likely is a toe-out problem (could be the tie rod...

    window seal

If it's shrinkage where its pulling away from the door frame, which is common in that area, that's a hard fix. Try stretching the seal a little bit when it's warm, and filling the gap between the seal and the door with some silicone. Next fix is replace... :(

    Plugs

Think I'll do that next weekend I'm off. Have lost about two miles per gallon. Maybe I'll pick that back up! Thanks!

    Chirp Chirp Chirp

Yep. Balancer failure at the pressed-fit inner to outer section. I caught mine in March just as it broke the seal. Chirp was my indication to look further, as yours was. Had it done at the Ford dealer with new, improved part number for 210.00 dollars. The 4.0 and Tracs are notorious for this!

Hey Scott, this worked on mine. Don't be stingy with the conditioner/protectant! :supercool:

    Plugs

Hey, all. Question. Got 122,000 on the Trac. Running great! Pulls smooth, idles smooth, starts right up hot or cold. Original plugs. Should I change them, or see if I can get another 10-15,000 miles or so. Thanks ina advance!:online:

    Update on 2005 Trac

Well, all, been a while (again). Been busy as most have been, I'm sure. Just turned over 118,000, and still running great. Been getting 18-19 mpg, a little lower than my original 20-21 combined. I have a few hundred pounds of rescue gear in the bed now, as I retired from G.M. in the fall of '09...

    Timing Chains/High Mileage

Hey, all! Long time no post.Thought I'd give some feedback since I'm gonna ask a question. Got 112,787 miles on a 2005. Bought her new, and well maintained. In and out, top to bottom. I'm a certified mechanic with some measure of OCD. So, she's been well maintained, but driven. Not a problem so...

    Water Pump Replacement?

I hope I'm doing this right! I'm trying to post 1 of the pictures I took when I replace my waterpump. I was absolutely amazed how clean the inside of all the passages looked after 100,000 miles. [Broken External Image]:

    Water Pump Replacement?

I'm with dave as far as new goes. For the difference in price you're much better off with a new. I actually went with a mastercraft from autozone new lifetime warranty. I ask around at work in that was the consensus I got.7000 miles on it since plus a lot of idle time is on the trac as Im a...

Been a long time, been a long time been a long lonely lonely lonely lonely tiiiiime!

Well guys it's been a long time as this topic states! Don't know all who is here but I just thought I'd give an update on my track. 110,000 miles and going strong. Got some specific updates if anybody's here I used to know (Cayman, anyone?!?!) If you're still interested I'll get on here to post...

    sport trac plastic fastners

Greg, this site shows the many different types of fasteners and what they look like installed and open or removed. I'm guessing by your description that yours are like the 2036T. Just pop the center circle out with a (very) small screwdriver and pull it out a few millimeters. If it pops all the...
