So today, I went to see the trucks from the derailment. I whipped out the trusty camera-phone and snapped a couple pics. I think in the next week and a half, I'll be swimming in parts.

Just over half of the vehicles are there so far. Some aren't bad at all, and others are toast (as you'll see). Keep in mind that these are all 2008 ford products with less than 10 miles on each.

Front left is pretty bonked up, but you can't ever put one of these on the road again legally. They're required to cut the floorpans out and cut the frame in 4 places and send pics to the insurance company.

With that many vehicles involved, the insurance company will have an adjuster there with a camera getting pics and confirming that each VIN number vehicle is destroyed to the point it will never be repaired.

We had a smaller derailment in my area some years back. The adjuster was at the wrecker yard doing all the paperwork.

Parts can be bought, but not the whole vehicle..

As I said the other day, cry to owners perhaps, but the best sale Ford never made to Ford. Those likely would have sat on lots and sold at far less than the MSRP.

I'm in the middle of negotiations to buy over half of the usable parts on each vehicle. If you want anything specific, hold on to that thought. The deal can't be finalized for a minimum of 10 days. (Insurance.)

I'd be happy to take 2 pairs of front bucket seats in grey color and with seat tracks.... Calling dibs, if allowed. And well, if possible not powered and from either an explorer/mountaineer/sport trac based. And not to sound greedy, but I'd gladly take take a couple sets of good tires... hehe!

The deal I'm working on will be mostly interior parts, headlights, and tails. The only wheels I've got in it are 4 sets of Mountaineer wheels and the Adrenalin ones.

On the seats, why 2 pairs? And leather or cloth?
