Looking at what the truck is worth is what dealers tell you to get you into something new
You should look at what its going to cost to replace the truck. That will make the new motor and keeping the truck look financially more attractive. Of course that assumes the truck is in good...
You cant really tell that much difference in normal driving. In snow and ice the rear end doesn't try to come around. The power is a little more predictable. I'm not sure if its the motor or transmission.
Living on a dirt road is great not to have the rear end coming around on washboard...
You should look into the facts. Jeep is building one model in China for sale in China. GM, Ford, VW, and BMW have been doing the same for years.
All mfgs have models that are made outside the US.
I traded my Gen1 for a Honda Ridgeline. It wasnt easy I have always been a Ford person but I didnt want a F150 and they dont have much else. The Honda is nice. It rides much better and the power is stronger and more even. Gas mileage still stinks. Looks, well lets just say its an acquired...
Take that 10K and get a newer lower mileage ST with good paint. You'll soon forget about the current truck and you will not have the frustration of getting your current truck painted.
Lots of mechanics will tell you that its risky to change the oil in a auto after about 60K most especially if its never been changed. Unfortunatly I can verify it can happen. Had the oil changed in a Pontiac I had years ago. That tranny never changed gears again.
I also changed the oil...
No reason to think the tranny is limited to 150K. Its a electronic shift so if it starts "flaring" I would change the solenoids.
I'm at over 210k and I did change the fluid once at about 120K when I did the solenoids after my '01 starting flaring.
I'll bet 90% of autos never get...
Dealer told me I needed new tranny .... I replaced the valve body and two of the solenoids. That was 105K miles ago. I might changed the electronic solenoids again. They are easy to replace and did seem to "pep" up the shifting.
I disagree, as a engineer involved in power I think we will make the goal and eventually exceed it. It will not be with what us that remember what a carburetor is think of as a motor but it will happen. I did get to see some of the future in German last summer.
Thats the beauty of the...
Found it ...........
One of the 4 bolts that bolts to the front U-joint to the transfer case flange was missing and the others were very loose. New bolt and torquing them down fixed everything.
Not sure how the "mechanic" that looked at the drive train missed it!
