"Ricer" used to mean a vehicle that had the look of a high-performance car, but had little substance to back it up. But, I guess some twist the term around to mean anything that doesn't appeal to them and is designed more for the street is "ricer".

Come to think of it, the standard Adrenalin is a "ricer". Though I wouldn't go so far as to call it that, but it has a "tuner" look, with no tuner mods, and AWD doesn't count as performance, heck, the AWD is probably slower then the 2WD.

Wow!

Dingo I love your photoshop work on the STA concept!

Excellent renditions!

And by the way...I love the concept STA.

All that horsepower, looks, torque and AWD.

What's not to like?

Definitely not ricer to me.

I believe you are in correct on this one, I'm pretty sure ricer is used to mean a japanese made automobile, particularly the more inexpensive models that the younger generations like to modify with flashy stereos tv's and stuff like that. "Ricer" as in rice rocket, because rice is a huge food staple in japan. Therefor since the standard adrenalin you called a ricer is an american design, it is no ricer.

Want to be technical? Fine, "ricer style".

And for the record, I don't think the production is "ricer", and certainly not the concept. However, my the definition of the term, it could easily be considered so.

The STA isn't ricer at all. I'm blown away that people even think this of the STA. Have you guys seen what "ricer" actually means lol?

"...but had little substance to back it up..." It has plenty of power. However, its a 4,600 pound vehicle made to fill the gap between SUV and pickup. In case you didn't know...that's the entire premise behind the Sport Trac design. The STA isn't a Lightning but it's not a whimp by any means.

I bought mine after owning a lifted off-road F150 (and three other lifted trucks prior to that). I've been there and it's not worth it for me. I drove it off-road ...well...basically never. I enjoyed bypassing the Wal-Mart parking lot via driving over curbs. When I lived on the farm it was a different story and an old one.

The STA hit all the marks. Extremely unique look, awesome tow cap (same as my 5.4L FX4 F150), four doors (F150 was a reg cab) and the sound of a V8.

In all honesty, I couldn't afford a SVT Adrenalin anyway. The vehicle would have stickered in the mid to high $40,000 range. The insurance would have been insane. So in that regard I'm thankful that it isn't titled as an SVT vehicle. I do take some pride in that it was designed by SVT.

It's also a feakin blast to mod. I'm almost addicted to modding it! I think part of the reason I like it so much is the website.

I'm extremely happy with this vehicle right now. It's perfect for me.

I don't care for the lifted mud-trucks either.

My point is that a truck should be able to use it's bed for hauling and should also be able to tow.

Around here, we take our trucks out in the fields and woods, and we also drive through snow. Doesn't mean they have to be jacked up and 4WD, but even a 2WD truck should be able to be used as a truck.

The low-riding "sport trucks" just seem to have all the negatives of a truck (weight, handling, size, etc.) and non of the good things that make a truck a truck, like hauling, towing, off-road, etc. If I wanted a sports car, I would get a sports car.

Not bashing here- just my opinion about trucks.

Heh, you know me JK, got all those scoops and wings and stickers and such on mah truck.

Psy-

Sure the Adrenalin may have "plenty of power" but it isn't any more then a regular Trac. Which is kinda the sticking point to many about "ricers". Stock performance with visual only upgrades, which is exactly what the production Adrenalin is. I wouldn't call it "ricer" since the visual upgrades are very tame and aren't "tuner" in style, just lower to the ground. The fake fender vent is a bit much, but that's a current trend that a lot of cars have. Heck, a lot of cars come from the factory with "ricer" styling cues...the Mustang with scoops and intakes that don't do anything, fake diffusers at the rear, and the aforementioned useless fender vents.

I hauled my Christmas tree with my STA. I moved us out of our old places and into our house with the help of the STA. I drive it in the snow as I would any other ST. I use it like a truck. That's why I bought it. I probably wash it and mod it more than any other vehicle I've ever owned though :)

The cool thing about the Adrenalin package is that it was styled by or after the SVT concept. It wasn't given all the go fast guts the SVT concept was. It did retain 90% of the styling. I like the production STA better than the SVT concept cosmetically. With the exception of really missing that awesome hood.

How many other packages can we say was developed or styled by SVT and used in a production model? Other than the actual SVT vehicles....only the Adrenalin. That's cool.

The STA does have some performance advantages over every other Sport Trac. It's the only package you can get the Intelligent AWD and the 20" wheels. Both of these help the handling of this vehicle. It's more than just a cosmetic upgrade, albeit not much more. People forget that.

Stop comparing it to the SVT concept. That vehicle has never come to be a consumer reality. Judge the Adrenalin for what it is now. It's a great looking truck that does everything any other ST can do. It just looks better while doing it!

Many of us add custom rims to our vehicles. Many of us have unique paint jobs and a ton of you have spent a decent chunk of change on engine mods and lifts. The beauty of the Adrenalin package is that everything comes like this from the factory and at a wicked price. For someone looking to do these mods you just can't get a better deal than the Adrenalin. Not to mention its all under warranty.

For some strange reason, I've always felt that since I paid for my trucks and cars, I could do anything I wanted to with them. When someone else pays for them, I'll do what they want me to do and fix them like they like them.

Personally I went through the lifted truck phase, had some fun, spent lots of money on repairs and so on. But for practicality it just doesn't fit for me.

You talk about being able to haul with a truck... if your on this site I'll go out on a limb and assume you have a sport trac. Well guess what, mine will haul just as much as yours unless you have a 6cyl and in that case it will haul more.

You mention being able to tow with it, well what do you know, again mine will tow as much as yours unless you have a 6cyl then, well again I can tow more.

As far as going off road; I could care less about off roading in my truck, been there done that and I don't see any of the benefits but I can name a few of the down sides. The STA has gotten more remarks and comments than any other vehicle I've owned other than my 65 Impala SS. Most people don't even know that it is a Sport Trac they just like the styling.

My wife and I came out of Olive Garden the other night and there were about 8 people standing around it, all ages and the comments were all positive, that happens alot with this truck.

So If you don't like the truck I'm sorry but I do and I know alot of others that do too and I hear from more everyday that do. I still haven't seen another one driving around in my area which makes mine a bit unique so I'm good with it.
