Certainly don't want to upset the STA folks but I saw this picture and immediately said amen! If only Ford could have sucked down the ride height and filled up the wheel wells with tires and rims. I realized the door shave is not practical for production but the styling on this picture is "right on".........................in my opinion but we know what that is worth.

it would be realy nice if FORD would put xenon lights on their vehicles. Other than Lincoln and Mercery. But it does look realy sharp. I like the shaved Door Handles too.

Isnt that the concept that was shown 2 yrs ago.?

Was talked about alot but nver produced..Do a search, you will find more pics on this site..

Unfortunately you can only go so far in re-producing the Concept.

YES Ford should have produced the SVT Concept....

I have tried to get a company to make that hood.....not enough interest apparently!?

What you don't see in that pic is the Powertrain! A Terminator Engine complete with Eaton SC.

FUGLY!

That truck wouldn't hardly haul anything or tow a decent trailer, and it sure as hell wouldn't go off-road without some major damage and getting stuck.

I hate ricer trucks.

Get a Civic if you want a Civic.

I don't see anything close to that.

In fairness, though, the production STA will not get very far off-road, either. Both the concept and the production vehicle are more Sport Truck than Sport Utility Truck. The power is there to tow, however. But, that's not the goal of the vehicle. Like the Cherokee SRT (which as of 2008 did not offer a towing package; note the exhaust exit location), it's a vehicle aimed towards a certain clientele. (The 2009 SRT, however, supposedly will offer a TT package by splitting the exhaust.)

JK- they both look the same to me!

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If the concept and the STA rock your boat, then good for you. To each his own.:)

I'd love to have a version of the SportTrac in a King Ranch/FX HD/Off-Road Package.:cool::banana:

A little too low for my taste and those rims don't match IMO.

Add about another inch in height and change the rims and outside mirrors to chrome to match the grille and then we can talk....JMO ;)

Gavin, is a Lightning a ricer truck?

Hey guys, it's obvious you like lifted trucks we get that....

HOWEVERR there is a market for a sport truck (hence the SRT10 truck/Lightning/Syclone/typhoon etc.)

The STA is not UGLY, it is just meerely NOT your STYLE...we get that!

In no way is the STA a Low Rider either...and to be honest does not (in stock form) fit either category well!

it's not a very good sport truck (given the powertrain/suspension...yes it does have possibilties though)

Nor is it a 4x4 off road truck (it was never designed to be either!!!)

I guess this goes to prove you can't make everyone happy. I always look at the potential of the vehicle, and how I can make it unique, but thats just me.

I cant stand ricers. Im old school and I dont see the concept STA as rice at all. What I see is it could have been Fords next Lightning Hot Rod. Performance truck and a people hauler. I think it to be a good Idea. Todays economy would kill the sales though.:D

eddie,

as you stated it should have been the next lightning instead of just a couple of cosmetic changes.

imo, the sta trac would have been a great vehicle for a performance upgrade.

oh well

Right on , Gavin! I'd take a second mortgage to buy one if they came out with a King Ranch Sport Trac. I love the King Ranch F-150, but it won't fit in my garage and I don't really like trying to dock a 7 foot wide barge in the supermarket parking lot.
