I ended up getting the OEM accessory vehicle security system, it was installed @ the dealer. I had the same issue w/ the alarm going off haphazardly. I brought it in and the guy re-calibrated the sensitivity of it, which made me kinda regret gettin it - what's the sense if you don't know it's...

Thanks Kevin - in that link I posted looks like this has been an issue since 2002MY - I sure hope the TSB they have for this is a ROBUST one and not a recurring issue. I.e., if it's a defective clockspring as the root-cause, they hopefully have replaced it w/ a new, revised clockspring...

I HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME!!!! On my 2008 ST, V8 ... it would have a clunk on a 2-1 gear downshift, and also a VERY noticeable jolt. I took it in, and they did the "relearn" set and re-flashed it (new calibration), and it drives like new. Via warranty.

TSB's aren't considered 'warranty' type fixes, so customers technically don't get notified about them as recalls. You only encounter them if you need to bring in your vehicle for service. I just brought my 2008 ST in for a rear clunk/transmission hard 2-1 downshift - which it turns out were...

This is all on the downlow ... but here goes ... Prior to the new unibody Explorer, Ford planned on doing a global Explorer/Sport Trac/SUT type platform developed in Australia, but was obviously scrapped. Another program was kicked off to develop the 'F150 Lite' (aka F100), less weight...

PS. Speaking of low miles ... my dad bought a 1978 Ford Thunderbird, has 53K on it ... he's been offered upwards of $12K for it by car restorers (he bought it from Oregon for < $7K). Betraying the law of depreciation! I think I'll keep my ST to 5,000 miles/year. GREAT IDEA! :supercool:

Just musing ... so if someone were to, say, sell an ST now (1stGen or 2ndGen), could they command a higher residual value since they're no longer in production and no planned replacement in the product pipeline?
