Woofer shot, where replacement?

2001 Sporttrac, My sub woofer behind the seat is shot, vibrates, no real sound, wanted to replace just the woofer as everything else works ok, went to dealer, no longer stocking those parts, car too old. Crutchfield and a local stereo place both said I had to replace the sub and the amp with a rewire as the amp is too low power to drive a new replacement woofer, not sure I want to spend $200-400, any ideas of where to source a replacement woofer the correct size that will work with the existing electronics?

Can buy a stock one, OR i have heard you can find a shallow mount speaker and just replace the speaker...
