I still haven't completely made up my mind on this election.

With all the shots these two have been taking at each other and all the bad press they have both gotten, it really makes it hard to decide.

Too bad there isn't someone else to vote for that would really stand a chance.

I really believe McCain made a serious mistake by picking Palin. I don't think for one minute that he had the best interests of this country in mind. His choice was made simply to strenghten the ticket by picking up the Clinton voters and some women voters. If something were to happen to him we would be in serious trouble.

What a mess. If this is all the two parties have to offer us, and this is the best we can find in our country, God have mercy on us.

Don,

I had my mind made up before all the political BS ever started. This country has always been devided between the Rep's and Dem's and lot's of blame coming from both sides when something doesn't go right.

You just have to vote for who you feel would do a better job for the country and hope for the best.

Frank, your rehetoric is unbelievable. If you look at GDP growth it was pretty good for that period. I have to ask you are you happy with the last two years. I could say " do you want the same thing as the last two years?" The Dems were in charge of congress during that period. What bi;;s did they pass that helped this country? Pelosi promised tremendous thing in the first two months of the new congress. Well it has been two years and nothing is better. Actually its worse. So don't give me this BS "do you wamnt 8 more years of Bush. McCain is much more to the left of Bush. Your not voting for Bush. Get trhat straight!!.

BTW How is your GED going?

Penn & Teller (repeated use of the word BS (don't want to offend anyone). Forget the talking points Obama now says, here's the truth on his belief in taxation.

I think what i was trying to say was , that as President, Mc Cain will have to make very serious decisions, not hasty, ill thought out decisions. Such as Sarah Palin.

I guess it really doesn't matter because I think irrepairable harm has already been done to his campaign and we are probably going to get stuck with Obama- Biden. I'm not saying thats bad, Im just saying that as a country we could have found much better candidates. Our system by which we pick them is seriously flawed. We are prevented from making changes to that system by the very people who we elect to protect our interests.

How can anyone vote for the ticket where the chosen VP says he does want to be the VP (but will do it if asked) and he does not believe the guy who is running for President is good enough.

That alone should seal it.

Simple ... if you want socialism (as you can tell, it has worked for so many other countries, including the USSR), then you want Obama ... if you believe in what this country was founded upon (the inaliable right to pursue life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - i.e. to earn what you get), then you want a conservative ... McCain definitely isnt perfect, but at least he wont lead us to financial ruin ...

then you want a conservative ... McCain definitely isnt perfect, but at least he wont lead us to financial ruin ...

Shhh, don't tell anyone, but we are already in financial ruin. That was under the control of a conservative.

Tom

Cayman, I have to disagree with you. Chris Dodd and Barney Franks, both Democrats, were the what dogs for the banking system as chairman of their respective oversight committees for the last two years. Prior to that they were in these committees as the minority party reps.

Why are you blaming the conservatives. This whole mess started with Carter (ya he really helped this country), was pushed by Clinton. "More minorities should have their own homes..." was their goal. That's a commendable goal BUT you can't loan money to people who can't pay it back. That's true if they are a minority or not.

Everyone blames Bush for everything that has gone wrong in the last 8 years with no credt for things that went right. Believe it or not the House and Senate have an affect on the economics of this country. They make the budget and laws. The President can only Veto those items, not make them. Altough the President makes policy, it is congress that holds the purse strings which in many instances impacts policy. The Dems were dead set against on shore and near off shore drilling.

Don't you think they deserve some blame also. As a matter of fact every time the capital gains tax has increased, the total revenues to the Treasury has decreased. This is documented.

Obama doesn't care he wants the distribution of wealth to be "more fair" regardless if the coffers are shrinking. Taxes were not voted in so that thinks would be more fair. It was voted in to collect money so that the government could perform the functions required of it by the Constitution.

This was also helped out by the Republicans.

Another note, why was everyone here praising Bush during the first 6 years in office on how well he was keeping the economy going? Now you all say the President does not have those powers.

It was ironic that the national debt started to skyrocket right after Bushie took office.

Tom

It was Bush's tax cuts that kept the economy going, despite the fact that the economy was in a downturn at the end of Clinton's term, just like when Reagan rolled the taxes back after the Carter years. You do not tax your way out of a recession. People have forgot that the economy was doing pretty good considering all the crap 911 and such that this country endurered. And yet with all that unemployment is still around the 5-6% same as when Clinton was in office. During the Great depression it was around 30+%.

The lies the left throws out about Bush do not change the facts about Bush.

He has made some of the toughest decision a president can make and yet we have not been attacked since 911, #1 job of the president is the safety and security of the country and its people. What if Al Gore or John Kerry would have been there that fateful day in September?

They wouldn't have the courage to lead us to battle. No doubt about it! It would have been more of the same, as Clinton did, send cruise missiles aimlessly into Afghanistan and hope for the best. Let more small incidents like the USS Cole take place.

We should have listened to Swartzkopf and went into Bagdad when we had all our troops an equipment there during the first Gulf War. He predicted we would have to come back and finish the job. I'll bet he's not a Obama Supporter

No were not, it's not great, but it can get a whole lot worse. Whoever the next President is better have some balls and not let Congress continue to spend the way they have. Government is too big and needs to be downsized. Continuing to let Pelosi and Barney Frank run the bank is the road to bankruptcy. This is a world-wide problem, everyone has been living on credit and we have to start paying the bills.

Every political campaing I have ever witnessed promises CJANGE ! Yet, nothing really ever gets changed! That is the whole purpose of an election is to bring in change and fresh ideas, yet our country and all the states are governed by committee, and that's why real change never happens. The government is designed that no ome person has enough power to make any of the changes they promis, it's only the committee (Senate, Congress, State legislators, city counsils) that hold the power to make change.

So if you are voting for either Obama or McCain because you want to see a significant change, you will surely be disappointed. The President does not have enough power to make the kinds of sweeping changes they promis in their campaigns.

The elections for Senate and Congressmen are staggerd so that only about 1/3 of them are running for re-election at any given time, so by the time you vote out the guys you don''t like, the new guys have become the new idiots.

Then the biggest committee is the US voters who for the most part don't have a clue as to what the candidates stand for and assume as President their candidate can do everything he says he will do during the campaign.

The only absolute power the President has is as Commander In Chief of the military, whish is made that way to allow this nation to react to a threat or attack without waiting for Congress to return from vacation, etc.

....Rich

Palin was a brilliant pick. She has more executive experience than the other three when it come to non-military leadership and operation.

Palin is a NET GAIN for McCain, unlike some "conservative" pundants who claim otherwise. Obama would be blowing McCain away if it weren't for her and you can take that one to the bank.

If it weren't for Palin, I'd probably be going for Barr.

Was she a hasty pick? Maybe. Some important decisions can be made quickly and decisively (and correctly). She's not out there saying Romney would have been a better choice (like Biden said about Hillary). She's not out there talking about how we're going to be tested within the first 6 months (like Biden). She's not out there saying how we need to break free from the "restraints" of the Constitution (like Obama has). She's not out there talking about how Rosevelt went on TV and talked about the stock market crash of 1929 (TV was not available and Rosevelt wasn't president). She's not out there in one breath claiming the advantages of clean coal but in the next claim that there won't be any focus on developing new coal power plants.

Palin.... Awesome pick. Biden.... not so much.
