Cayman, as I have said before, all is not black and white. Yes Bush has made mistakes as well as Congress. You are correct that the Pres gets all the blame or credit when Congress has a good deal to do with it. His tax cuts is not one of his mistakes. Every time taxes are decreased Treasury revenues go up. That really seems to be lost to most Democrats.

The problem I have with many Democrats is their socialistic ideals. Obama himself wants to use the tax system to make the distribution of wealth "more fair" in spite of the fact Treasury revenues will suffer.

Both parties are catering to the minorities so as not to lose the Hispanic vote. That's why the illegal alien problem hasn't even come up in this election.

Note to Caymen: Bush is not a Conservative. Never was and didn't govern as one.

Like R Shek, I'd be voting for Bob Barr except that Palin IS a Conservative and it is likely that PA will be close.

FWIW, I voted for Ron Paul in the primary because McCain is not Conservative enough for me. Although Paul is off the reservation on foreign policy and the war, he was the only candidate who gets it on the economy.

Everyone wants to compare each candidates qulaifications to be President and most. When was the last time we had a President who had the experience and qualifications to be be President? You have to go all the way back to Richard Nixon, who was a former Vice President under Eisenhower for 8 years.

Kennedy was a young Senator without any foreign poloicy experience, Johnson did not have any foreign policy experience except the little he picked up as VP to Kennedy. Gerald Ford had litte foreign policy experience before he became President when Nixon resigned. Carter, Reagan, Clinto and George W Bush were only state governors and had no previous foreign policy experience. George Bush Sr did have some experience as VP to Reagan and previously the boss of the CIA and US Ambasidor to China.

Everyon is concerned about Palin being qualified to be president, het she is just as qualified as 4 of the last 5 presidents were when they took office, and the fact that she is not actually running for President, but only Vice President

I don't think any of the candidates are qualified to handle the Economics of the US, especially anyone who has been involved in the Senate or Congress...They are the major cause of this crisis. Since we are governed by committee, the President really has no control over most of the stupid things that Congress and the Senate do.

...Rich

You want a candidate to be qualified to handle the economics of the US? Make them take a Introduction to Macroeconomics course at the community college. 90% of dummycrats and 75% of republisnobs will find out they are not qualified.

Like most good CEO and corporate managers they are not usually experts in all the fields that support their company such as supply, financing, quality control, etc. A good manager surrounds himself with qualified experts in each of the required fields. It is his job to get the information from all his reports and make a decision based on that. The same is true of a president. Most that is required in good leadership and common sense. In all the talk about qualifications what did Carter have to offer. He was the most screwerd up (correction...still is) person on world politics and economics. What did you expect from a peanut farmer and engineer?

"I really believe McCain made a serious mistake by picking Palin. I don't think for one minute that he had the best interests of this country in mind. His choice was made simply to strenghten the ticket by picking up the Clinton voters and some women voters. If something were to happen to him we would be in serious trouble."

Do you really think Palin was picked to pick up Hillary votes? The only similarity between Palin and H Clinton is that they both sit down to pee. (although I'm not sure about Hillary LOL)

The two of them are so far polarized. The RNC says they did it because "it was time". Why can't it be that, and just that. I feel she was a good pick. She's energized the party and got people talking. As it was said above, if not for choosing her, McCain's campaign would be all but dead weeks ago.

She's smarter than you think. She has more experience and savvy than the other 3 candidates. She's been constrained by the RNC and laughed at by the media. Anyone McCain would have chosen would have had the same treatment, but since she's a woman, it seems to be okay. I don't agree. She gets no respect and I personally think it's sad.

R.Shek I am also an engineer that has worked in the aerospace arena for many years. Engineers , in general, make poor managers. There are many reasons for this which I will go into if you want in a separate post. I am not mocking him for his engineering skills, just his management skills.

I wouldn't be too fast to want to be lumped in with comrade Carter. His administration was horrible. How about interest rates of 20%. Were you an adult during his administration and saw first hand his competence?

No, I was born in 1977....

I DO NOT WANT to be associated with Comrade Carter in any way, shape or form. Not all engineers are bad leaders/managers.

One difference I have with the Comrade is that I also have a minor and significant training in economics, economic theory and the practice there of.
