Does a battery lose some of its life sitting on the shelf before we buy it? What if the new battery has been in a supply house for over a year and then on the dealers shelf for another year? I have always had trouble with bike batteries. The OEM would last forever and the replacement, never more than two years. I am thinking the OEM batteries are fresh because of the big order to supply that vender. In the old days the fulid was added at the time of purchase. Now all the batteries on the shelf are ready to go. Just wondering.

The battery CASE has a number melted in it.... it also has a sticker on it... This is the date code...

It will be say D8 that is April of 2008

Exide was in trouble for taking battery's and changing them when the sat on the shelf for a long time....

Thats why I would not purchase from a low volume place, the batteries can sit.... BUT check the date code before you purchase it and get the newest one..
