Here is what I did, removed the two bolts holding the caliper in place, removed the pads, removed the sliders pins greased them and put on new rubber boots, then installed the new pads. Then compressed the caliper piston, put the caliper back in place and tightened the two bolts to 24ft/lbs...

To clarify, I am talking about the two small bolts I removed to lift the caliper bracket off the rotor to just replace the pads. They should be torque to 85ft/lbs and use blue loctite?

Just did for the first time a front brake pad replacement on my 2003. Could not beleive how easy it was. Is it necessary or a good idea to use blue loctite on the Caliper bolts? I did not use any and starting to question if I should have Thanks Greg

Fuel filter, plugs were replaced at 98,000. Battery and air filter replaced at 124,000. Plug wires look in great shape. If the PVC is the pipe going from the air intake tube around the back of the engine it was replaced at 100,000. That pipe had cracked and was replaced by a shop, is that...

I have a 2003 Sport trac with 148,000 miles. When the engine is cold and I start it, it idles slightly rough. Then when I put it into drive the rpms drop to almost nothing for a second and almost stalls, then it picks back up and idles at 900rpm. When the engine is warm there is no problem...

I checked the fan blade with the engine cold. It moves freely with just a little resistance. The blades all have cracks so I am replacing it. I wonder what else could cause the noise? The noise is not always there. Thanks again for the help Greg
