How often, if at all, do i need to update my firmware on my Xcal? It's been over a year. Also, i have been getting a pinging when i run 87 performance tune with 87 octane. If I run 89octane the pinging goes away.

I have never updated my firmware. I look at it, the same as I do my computer drivers. If my hardware and perifials, are working properly. I leave it alone. I only update my drivers if there is a security problem.
I would have Torrie to take a look at your 87oct program. There may be a glitch, and needs rewriten. Or if you saved the files on your computer. Reload the 87 tune to the xcal. It might overwrite the error.
One other thing, is. Maybe your tracs knock sensor is going bad. Despite not throwing a code yet.

Updating the device firmware won't have any effect on knock. If you are experiencing it and you are one of my customers, email me and I will take care of it.
