I dont know how many people have been to Europe, but they display naked women on bill boars, have porn on full display at the gas station. It was all ready said too that, what about the animals at zoo's, are we suppose to castrate them all so no kids ask, oh by the way, the petting zoo's that have goats that always get a serious hard on, should we cut them off too. As far as the calvin stickers, i think that it is funny, and if it pisses u off, maybe you take things too serious. That is my personal opinion. I do believe that is one of the best things about AMERICA, haveing the freedom to be able to display items like that. I understand that it might offend someone, but I am sure that every subject or item will offend someone at sometime. Just venting.

In many ways, Europe lives a life more free than we do.

We do not have the freedom to display stuff like that. Gas stations are not allowed to display pornographic magazines. In many area's, we are not allowed to visit nude strip clubs or porn shops after midnight. We are limited on our alcohol consumption until the age of 21.

I spent 3 months in Germany.

We were out having a good time in a bar. One of the guys that was with us, started to strip on a table in the bar. (He was from Texas) The bar maid walked up to him and told him to be careful not to fall off the bar and get hurt. She never called the cops or the manager to throw him out. He was having a good time.

We can talk about how free America is. They are partly right. There are many freedoms we have that nobody else on this earth has.

There are also many places on this earth that has freedoms we only dream about.

I lived in Germany for 6 years, 3 years in the military and then 3 years after I got out of the military. I honestly believe that if children wern't brought up so censored then alot of things wouldn't be taboo and cause the kind of problems that they do now, that being said i do love the good ole U.S.A and wouldn't trade it for the world.

There is nothing wrong with the naked form, human or animal.

However to objectify the naked female for advertising and for the porn industry is wrong, IMHO.

duece ...it never stops...there are stupid and shallow and idiotic people every where....that can not see the forrest for the trees.

:)

Things here in Poland are fairly liberal. I am providing advice to my 15 year old about alcohol, but know that if she is out alone, there are bars that will serve her. She even told me once that she bought for her friends that didn't look 18 (my daughter looks older than 18). I told her to never do that again, because she could be deported for breaking local laws.

There is some truth to I1tech's opinion. It is sad that children learn about things like alcohol, hidden off in some corner with friends. Parents should be allowed to let their children comsume a small amount of wine at home with parents and teach them how to drink responsibly.

Making it taboo encourages rebellious teenagers to drink as much as they can, just because they can get away with it. Prohibition makes it more glamourous to them.

TJR,

While I agree with you completely, lets not forget that there is a market for it and illegal or not, it is still going to happen.

The difference is if you allow those that see no problem with it to participate in it, you are allowing a medium for it to happen in a controlled environment.

It is like the whole "war on drugs". We are losing that battle. No matter what we do, we are losing that battle. Holland is willing that battle.

I don't have any answers, but I can say that I work for a text book publishing company for elementary levels, and we have to "digitally castrate" everything. Even the new nickle, the one with the buffalo on it, we had to round out its belly. We even had some pictures of men running track in their spandex uniforms and had to smudge out certain regions. Anything that causes "chaos in the classroom". There are also lots of other things we cannot put or refer to in our books. Sad really.

Just don't move to Virginia where some confounded lawmaker is trying to ban TruckNutz.... don't they have better things to do... like cut taxes and restrictions?????!!!!

Prohibition makes everything glamorous. When you say "Here it is but you can not have it", that item is a drug. It could be a cookie, car, house, or anything else.

Just because it is prohibited does not mean it is not going to happen.

The United States is strange. It's one of the few places on Earth where TV and conversation is chock full of sexual innuendos and metaphors, yet straight talk about sex and the display of naked bodies is thought of as a mortal sin.

That's because we are a greedy and petty nation..something our government as allowed us to become. That is freedom. Everyone is soo busy trying to be politcally correct that simple thought goes out the window and replaced with tooo much thought of things that are not that important, or real issues being over looked. Such as the guy just didn't know how to explain something to his child.

There was a movie many years ago titled "What Do You Say To A Naked Lady" that was produced by the Candid Camera people. In it they had naked ladies stand out in the open and people just walked by; when the naked ladies were put behind barrier with a hole to look through there was a big crowd. Prohibition does not work, legislation morality does not work and political correctness does not work. I rest my case.

Frank summed it up the best, IMO.

Life your life to your own standards. Live your life as your conscience allows you.

yep and it makes no sense....

I personally have no problem with the naked body of a man/woman on tv or for advertisement... i believe america is hyper conservative on that matter... while europe is a bit over the top... but if i had to choose i'd rather we have the european view on nudity and sex...

the quote i always liked went something like this....

Americans watch violence and little nudity... Europeans watch nudity and little violence... which is better?

Woppy V,

Ever seen the movie "The People vs. Larry Flynt"?

That was one of the points made in the movie. In America we glorify murder, violence, war, death. Something that is morally wrong. Sex, something everyone does, or at least wants to, is taboo. Shame on you for showing a womans boobie on TV but take a photo of some human with their body blown to pieces and the photographer gets a Pulitzer Prize.
