My Netgear router started dying after 6 years... I bought a new one. It's supposed to be the super huge range one with B, G, and N wireless. It sucks and keeps dropping connection. Ugh.

6 years,.... your lucky. I personally think they design those things to die in just a few years so you'll buy new ones. At my job we say EOL --- End Of Life --- it happens so often.

Dingo did you change channels on the router?

Did you try disabling the N band of the router? (N still isn't a standard and some equipment has issues with it)

Had one for close to 6 years myself. It finally failed. Replaced it with same, and it was total GARBAGE...

Got another, once again, GARBAGE..

Bought a "different brand" and has worked flawless since..

I use Netgear for switches and Linksys for broadband wireless routing. I recommend that combination. I don't like Netgear's routers as I have had too many problems with them.

The older netgear business class equipment rocks (blue metal case). I've managed all types of netgear gateways, routers, switches, hubs, etc with no problems. Actually, the switch we have is 12 years old and still going strong.

My old Netgear wireless rouer was one of the blue metal case ones. It's at my dad's company now, and I've had it for 10 or so years. It still gets used every day.

I've never used Netgear, but I've used Linksys with no issues. Now I'm connected with AT&T's Uverse with their wireless router....no complaints so far.

Guess we are getting spoiled.....remember the days when all we had was 1200 baud modems? :)

I've got it working now, but the blue LEDs on top of it are annoying. (Yeah, I said it.)

Andy,

There should be a switch on the back of the router to turn off the LED's. My Netgear router has one. (And I've had nary a problem with it):D

Not so much.

Nice nite light Dingo....

You could place some 'blue' electrical tape to block out the light if the light is bothering you.

You could change out the lights in your entryway to blue, this way you wouldn't notice the flashing. ;)
