Hey All,

I have some old shocks (still usable) and was wondering how to tell if they will fit another car. They are both Chevy's but of two totally different generations. What do I look at? Can I measure something, length, distance between bolts etc? Thanks guys! Marsha

You almost answered your own question..

overall length, Compressed length, Check the mounting points to see if the same type and opening size...

That should get you on the right path.

Marsh,

I would not recommend used shocks to be installed on any vehicle, much less shocks that were not even designed for that vehicle. What may seem like a bargin often cost you a lot more than if you just bought an installed the part that was designed for that vehicle.
