Hi all!

Well, the update isn't good. Not good at all.

Here's what happen. On Monday night, when I got home from work, I took the print out of all the helpful tips everyone sent out to the ST. I also had my 4 yr old son, Matt. He was cool...he was helping Daddy.

Well, first I tried the initialization of the window. No Luck on that one.

2nd, I tried sliding the stereo out to see if the switch was plugged in. I removed the 2 screws on the radio, but the radio wouldn't move. I put the screw back in and started thinking. I remembered back when I had my CJ's that you could access a lot of the dash wires by going in behind the glove box (that's the glove compartment for any Northerners out there).

Ok, this is where it gets bad. Please have a trash can handy, some folks may get sick.

My son was in the passenger seat, I in the driver seat. So, I tell Matt that were gonna switch seats. He jumps in the backseat....then.....I start my journey to the passenger seat. Did I open the driver door, walk around, open the Passenger door and get in? Of course not, I decide to just move on over the arm rest into the passenger seat.

SIDENOTE: 2001 ST, bought in Thursday, 8/18/2005. I am a Senior Loan Officer for local Credit Union. We repo'd this ST from the 1st owner that refi'd it to get some $$ 2 yrs ago, she went through bad divorce, couldn't pay, so we repo'd. Has 76K miles. I bid $9500, after 3 months and no more bids...BAM!! it's mine. NADA retail has it at $14950.00. I think I got a great deal. I'll post pics soon. All that to say this, the credit union had the ST detailed, there are no floor mats, so the black rubber in the floor board was armour all'd, nice, shiney and SLIPPERY AS HE**.

So, I am moving to the passenger seat, I have socks on, I left my shoes outside the ST cause I didn't want to get dirt in my beautiful vehicle. Well, when my right foot found the passenger side floorboard, it slipped...therefore...making me, 205 pounds of Man......SIT on my armrest. Yes....you know what happen..........the armrest is now 2 pieces. 1 piece could be a nice pillow, the other a prison shank.

My 4 year old, upon witnessing this says to me, "Do that again, I think the window moved" I didn't know if I should laugh or cry.

So........I've had my ST a week. The back power window still doesnt work and I have a broke armrest.

I am planing on checking the power window motor behind the back seat & carpet tonight.

Anyone have any clue where I can get another armrest??

Thanks for your time, and if you cried with me, thanks for that to.

LOL. Sounds like me whenever I attempt any plumbing work around the house. The "easy" job gets harder and harder and I end up making 8 trips to the hardware store to get the right part and the new part I need after screwing something up.

Ron,

Here is the tool they are referring to. They can be bought for 5 to 8 dollars brand new.

Works pretty easy. Once you insert it into the holes I have found it helps if you push out-wards on each tool, as in the direction of the doors of the vehicle, then wiggle the radio a bit and then slide the radio out.

Ok, on your arm rest. Here is a list of yards in the Region of the SOUTHEAST that has an Explorer Sport Trac. I looked up a fender as the arm rest is not in the list of parts. Since the fender ONLY fits Sport Tracs and 2 Door Explorer Sports I used them to ensure we find ONLY compatible vehicles.

I sell parts for a living. This is not worth my shop getting in the middle of though. I would have to charge to much to make any money. This list should help you out though. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.

If you find you need or want a motor e-mail me. I'll shoot you a list of prices and locations.

You don't need to remove the radio from the bezel. Take out the two screws and gently pry the bezel loose at the sides and it all slides out. The bezel is held in place with a clip on each side. You have to remove it to really check the wiring. In fact, I was able to pry mine loose just using my fingers.

I just called the local Ford dealer here in Tuscaloosa and spoke to a guy in the parts dept. They have the part for $100.46. Buy it Now is $85 plus $10 shipping. I put it in my "Watch List", maybe I can get it for the $45.

Thanks!

Ron

Would that be in the same category as smacking my head on the door frame of my car...twice? No? OK. Isn't it great doing stupid things in front of the little ones? Good luck on the arm rest and back window by the way.
