The piece of crap Ford plastic V6 thermostat housing that I replaced less than 2 years ago (30k miles) has failed at the seam again!

I was supposed to drive 8+ hours to MA tomorrow.

I ordered the$180 aluminum one...

What causes this? I have 150k hard mikes on my 02 with a couple flushes of cooling system. Never and issue here. Have change t stat once with a fail safe. Still no issues. I don't understand the recurring issues many seem to have.

Where is the best price and the Gen 2 part number for the aluminum housing?

The plastic they are using on some engine parts is a bad idea IMO .....didn't have this problem back in the day

This is an issue on the 4.0L V6, not the 4.6L V8.

I had it happen on my '04 STA, and I replaced it with an OEM plastic one. It hasn't happened to my '08 4.0L V6 Mustang yet, but it's only got 32K miles on it. I'm probably gonna buy the aluminum part anyway to have on had in the event the Mustang's t-stat housing eventually fails.

Its the GASKET on the bottom NOT the housing......

Been saying this for years.......

When you install put a liberal amount of ULTRA COPPER on the metal of the engine, IT will make its own gasket as well and never leak.
