As the owner of an '03 Trac, I've participated here off and on through the years.

Now, I'm working part-time at a local Ford Dealer - Meridian Ford of Meridian, Idaho as the "Online Inventory Specialist." (It's a fancy name for the guy who takes photos of the cars and posts them to the web.)

We have a "new" 2010 Sport Trac still sitting on the lot looking for a buyer. I might be interested but I like my '03 better, it's almost paid for, and the color of this '10 just doesn't have much pizzaz, at least to me. Of course there may be one of you looking for a new Trac that would be interested, Have a look...

I'm sad there will be no more Sport Tracs, so I guess I'll just have to keep mine running. Right now if I had to have a new truck, I might be looking at a Nissan Frontier...it's the closest thing to a Trac I know of. I'll be interested to see what Ford brings out in coming years.

With gas continuing to edge up, why would you want a V8 ?? The V6 in my '03 Trac has been all I've ever needed.

There's really not that much difference in the MPG between the V6 and V8 in normal, every day, real-world driving. But there is a noticable difference in power, as evidence by the different towing capacities.

Thats true Truelight. Real world driving has shown little if no difference in milage. Some cases if the Gen 2 V6 was pushed hard. It got worse milage.

I have read this board for about a year since i got my Trac and i really get tired of the "if it's a V6 then it's a piece of shit" attitude. If you (think) you need that much tow capacity, then get a F150. For eveyday use, commuting and light hauling, the V6 is perfectly fine.
