Starter

Every so often (once a week) I will turn the key and nothing happens. No click, turn, nothing. The second key turn will always work, and the ST hasn't left me starnded yet. Just wondering if this is a sign of things to come or if there might be a fix for this. This is an 04 4x4 with aprox 70K on it.

Check battery connections and associated wiring first...

I had the IDENTICAL problem a month or so ago. It was the starter. Once I replace it, the issue never occurred again. If you can't get it to engage, I was able to get it moving after hitting it with a hammer a few times. But, ultimately I had to replace the starter to get everything working again.

Try swapping the starter relay with the fuel pump relay- see if that changes anything.

Never hit a modern starter with a hammer. These new high torque starters have permanent magnets in the houseing. If it aint broke, it will be if you shatter the magnets.
