Gary~ That's a nice setup! That 'TRD' oil cap sets it off!.

Was the rear sway a PITA to install? I know you had the shop do it, but can you tell a difference before and after?

I like it!

Jerry~ I get about 28.8 mpg's on a daily commute which involves highway and hills and in-town driving. Closer to 25 just driving around town. Been up to 33.8 strictly highway. Gary hasn't had his long enough to share!

It's NOT a lowrider, just overloaded !

It even got an honorable mention in Car & Driver!

Nice. That's up there with a Honda Fit, but with more versatility and less stereotyping

However, how does the XB perform when it is loaded down?

When loaded down with 4 ~200 lb dudes and some minor luggage, the Honda Fit feels like it is towing a boat...on a trailer with no wheels (like those old oil commercials). This is on flat highway travel, from Baltimore to Virginia Beach. Nary a hill to be found.

Trying to drive the same trip through Appalachia to get to Columbus, OH from Baltimore was an exercise in patience. Driving up the mountain inclines was a Sisyphean task, and was only accomplished without getting outpaced by semis by flagrantly speeding on the downhills.

Needless to say, my MPG suffered. It wasn't much better than the ST after all of that, and I'd have paid the premium for driving my ST to actually have power at my command.

(Also, the ST's mileage isn't as volatile IME. One person, 4 people, the mileage is essentially the same)

I will say that the Fit, with the "sport" package, outperformed the similarly-loaded 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 on the same mountain trip. It pains me to say that.

What I'm trying to say is, does the XB take a noticeable dive in performance & mileage when it is loaded up?

Here you go, the day it came home just over two years ago and I said goodbye to the Trac.

Came home with a bunch of goodies already on it and been slightly improved since then -

Hey Chris~ To be honest, I've not been a fan of that color, but with the tint and those wheels... gotta say, that looks pretty good with it! Any pics outside?

Gary~ How's the front end look after a few trips on the highway?

+1 for the 'Colgan' T-style bra... soon.

Thanks Pappy,

I wasn't a big fan of the color either, but I couldn't pass up the deal on it (The Dodge dealer didn't know what he had). It kind of grows on you - real easy to find in a parking lot!

No outside shots, I'll try and get some this weekend with the additions.

Chris

chris/pappy,

like the colour of both !

per my mechanic, the rear sway was pretty easy. noticed a nice diff w/rear sway & strut brace. and yes, the trd oil cap gives me an additional 25hp to the front wheels. LOL.

pappy, did not drive it much as i have the 06 up here until april when it goes back south.

have to get you pics of the interior with the side rear cargo nets.

deep tint will be done in may when it warms up here.

jerry,

i don't get as good mileage as pap. i have been in about 24mpg. will have to see with more driving. the 06 gets great mileage. 30 mpg's. btw: that truck is nice !!

steve,

you know how i feel about the TC. who cares if it is slow, it WORKS well !!!!

kl,

i believe the others will agree, the gen2 xb is very peppy. i have had 4 adults in one of my fleet xb's and it was just fine. go ahead, switch to the dark side

wifey does not miss the escape.

Gary S. I've been working on my Show Truck for the last week and a half.

List ofthings I've fixed:

1. Alternator Bracket

2. Coolant Change (because the lower radiator hose went through the alternator bracket)

3. Motor Mounts

4. Oil Change

5. Full Tune-Up

6. Shocks

7. Hydraulic Clutch Hose

8. Clutch Set (complete)

9. Clutch Fork

10. Transmission Fluid Change

11. Greased All Fittings

12. Cat-back Exhaust System

Probably more, just can't remember right now. been busy, really busy !!!

In about a month I'll be installing new front cab mounts and bushings and rightside rocker panel (rusting).
