07 ST 4X4 automatic. The chrome coating on the shifter knob is starting to peal off. Sharp as a razor. I need to fix or replace the top piece. Any suggestions? Thanks

you can order the part from ford and change it, Or with modifications you can install the T handle shifter from the F150 and such....

Replace it with a shifter from a Ford Flex. That's what I'm going to do. It's not as tall and ugly. You can pick one up for under $20, and here's an awesome video showing how to do this project:
