Bought a 2001 4x4 a few months ago. So far everything is going good and it appears to have been well taken care of. Doing the 90,000 maintenance and all of the sudden the blinkers start acting up.

First they started that annoying fast paced blinking for a couple of days and then today they are not working at all.

Would this be a fuse or something that was knocked off during the tune up?

Will have a lot more questions over time but thought I would start off slow. Thanks ahead of time.

Tevil,

IF you don't have a bad bulb, there is a common issue with the steering column.

Tilt your steering wheel up a little or down and re try the directionals....

IF they work then it is that issue..

Most excellent Todd.

So what causes that. Because when I went to play with it they would flicker on and then not work unless to put pressure on the steering wheel. No matter what position the steering wheel was in they would only work if I was pushing on the steering wheel.

A too short of a harness in the steering column. Pull the covers and pull some slack up and tie rap the wire in place. Hope that you dont have any broke wires in the jack.

hahahahaaaaaaaaaa:lol::lol::lol:

Here is what I read............................................

I'm going to hook up with my mechanic tomorrow to finish the maintenance schedule and have him show me this. I really do want to learn but right now this means nothing.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the wine I've been consuming.

Did I mention that I entered the military as an electronic specialist but had to retrain after blowing the power our in the control room and melting multi meter leads. Cetain voltages and amps should not meet. Who knew?

Seriously though, thanks Fast Eddie.

:lol: bet ya only did that once! :D

If the blinkers were blinking really fast that means one of the bulbs is burnt. If not then it is the steering colume known issue with those year sport tracs.

Gypsy~me~ it was more like they didn't give me the opportunity to do it more than once. :p

Story about me and the third degree burns from the floodlight to follow on some other drunken night in the future.

Everything has been fine today so another big thanks to all. The posts on here are very helpful.

Patrick, can you clarify for me? If it had been this would it have been the bulb in my dashboard or one of the bulbs on the exterior of the truck? Just curious for future reference.
