Hi all,

I need ideas on how to keep from braking rear door latch handle.

Three have now broken on the passenger side and one on the driver side.

I have only had the 2003 for about four or five months.

The door pops open when you get it to unlatch. Could the door be to tight?

Any and all help would be great.

Don't know.... Are the replacements Ford parts or aftermarkets ??

Thats what I was thinking if it was wrecked. Did you replace the handle yourself or dealer? You may want to be a tad more careful. Once the door unlatch, no need to pull the handle to its max, that what the dealer told me about my Focus.

Thanks for the replies.

It's not exactly the handle. It's the teeth on the inside

that work together to pull the rod that unlatches the door.

A tooth will break off of one side or the other.

The first time it broke it was the handle. The second two times

it has been the teeth.

Not wrecked that I know of.

Nine year old child.

Two after market parts.

Replaced myself.

I think that I will try a ford part next and see how long it lasts.

Thanks again

I did the same thing to my handle and it was the door latch that was the culprit. You should replace that before spending more money on handles.
