The D,
What the heck was the previous owner thinking? It appears they removed the rear counsel, and from what I can surmise, installed one massive earth shaking sound system.

I guess I can live w/o the counsel and also tolerate the goofy panel screwed into the rear cab, but need a jack for sure.

Any suggestions on what models and years I can search to replace the jack? I suspect any Explorer jack of that year should fit (maybe F150 also?).

Yeah that's some hack job right there.......

Or they needed storage.......

The panel is a junk yard item and any 2001-2005 ST jack and bars will work......

Check the bed or some thing for the rods and jack you NEED them to get the spair down...

HECK look for your spair to see if its there !!!

First of all, there was never a factory rear console. the rear seat consisted of a 1/3 seat and a 2/3 seat.

It looks like the previous owner replaced the 2/3 seat with another 1/3 seat to create the open space between them.

If you can find another 2/3 seat to put back in you could at least make it look stock. Of course that still leaves the mess behind the seat panel.

Several questions yet:

1. Anyone happen to have some stock pics?

2. Where does the jack mount if stock? I read the manual and it mentions behind or under passenger seat. Is that the 2/3 seat that's missing?

3. Any ideas on the name of that rear panel? I'd sure like to find a salvage one but need to know what the heck to ask for. If anyone know the where abouts of one please let me know.

In regards to the jack, you are correct. It is mounted behind the 2/3 seat onto the floor. To fix that seat you'd have to get a new, well used 2/3 seat. Either that or just get an aftermarket console for the gap. Then get that rear panel and you'll be all good!

<------------------- Projects section...... Look under stereo, Cwells ECT. there are pics there.

Thanks Todd. That gives a good view. I really need to find that rear panel, not only for looks but also for the jack storage.

I called several salvage yards and was told that it's likely called a Parcel Shelf. Can anyone confirm that's the correct name?

Also, anyone know a salvage yard with a GEN1?

ALL trim parts discontinued. Here's a partial listing of Ford descriptions with complete numbers.

Thanks Steve.

Looks like a lot missing. I already know about car-parts.com, but now that I have part#s and names I will get on there and see what I can find. I may have to improvise if costs/availability become an issue.

#18 1L5Z17091AA HOLD DOWN CLAMP

FYI- the jack, jack handle that works the jack and lowers the spare, and the lug wrench from a '95-01 Explorer (and probably the earlier ones) will work just fine. The only difference is the base of the Explorer jack doesn't have the holes that hook into the hold down bracket of the ST.
