Rattle in engine area

Hello,



I have a 2003 with 24 original miles. I have a rattle that just comes and goes. and I can not seem to find what is causaing it. I have checked for loose items and cannot find anything. This is not consistant with rpms, it happens at idel at times and when on the rod. I dont think its the chain, because i have very low miles. I think it maybe associated with the alternator, becasue it sound like it is comming from there. Has anyone had this rattle- like a rattle snake sound that just comes and goes and what may it be?

Belt tensioner, Idler pulley, Cat converter shield, OR the chain......

Did you intend to post TWENTY FOUR miles? Or 24,000 miles?



As for the noise, I agree with Todd. You can take the blet off (When cold) and run it for about a minute to see if the rattle is still there. If no rattle, then something the belt touches.

Thanks for the feed back. But I already checked these out. I guess I will have to live with this snake. Oh BTW. It's 24,000 miles. I want to keep this one for a long time.
