Anybody have any kits or better yet ideas how to actually attach a double din head unit inside the car.

I have an eclipse head unit. I already cut down the inside dash bezel to accomodate the front of the unit. Not sure how to actually mount it and hold it in place??? Also the traditional Ford plastic slider in the back of the unit will not attach to the eclipse so it may rest on the groove for rear support.

Any ideas - anyone ever accomplished this task?

Thanks in advance

Combine a Scosche and a Metra kit. The Metra kit offers a more secure filler place install point (slides into the trimmed bezel). Both kits contain side attachments that slide into the opening. THe Scosche kit contains a plastic piece that attaches to the rear of the radio and to the metal track on the bottom of the opening so as to keep the radio from moving and to keep it from shifting vertically.

One thing--why won't the traditional Ford plastic slider attach? Is it design, mounting holes, etc.? This is where the Schosche slider may be effective.

I'm installing an eclipse double din Head Unit.

Do the side clips in the kits actually Attach attach to the front Bezel Faceplate?

I have a kit with plastic pieces that screw to the side of the radio, but no real way to attach it to the front Bezel.

Is it mounted to the Bezel or inside the compartments?

Rico - just installed a double din with the Metra Kit. Let me tell you it's no easy task depending on the type of head unit you have. in my case the kit would not go over the screen portion of the HU and as a result, it would not line up with the mounting points, nor wuold it allow for th units screen to open as the plastic was in the way. i had to seriously trimm down the metra kit to get it to work.

I dont remember what kit I used.. but all I had to do was trim the bezel and mount the kit as directed and it has held up for 2 years now.

I also have the Eclipse AVN 6600 What one did you get?

there are a few pics of my system in the library. if you have any other questions.. email me..

Dingo does indeed.

It'd be a shame if Dingo had a black filter just sitting and sitting on his shelf after no one paid for it. :)

I was curious because, assuming it arrives by March 3rd or so, I'll be installing a DNX5120 over break. Why not the 7120 or 8120? Ask Dingo. :D

Nah. I got the trailer brake controller that I have now because of selectable illumination.
