I have a 2007 ST and have had a small leak in the bottom of my radiator for a little while now. I put some stop leak in it when I flushed it last week but it just slowed it down. I was looking at fastparts just to see what the cost would be and there is a $300 difference for a radiator for the 2007's made before 8/2006 and the ones made after that. Unfortunately mine was made in July 2006. Does anyone know what the difference in the two are?

Well,,,

I do not know the OEM difference, but,,,

When you look it up used, the 06 thru 09 and some 2010's fit.

I just went through the leaking radiator issue. It went from no visible leak (but was losing coolant) to a small puddle in the driveway. I thought I could let it go a while, but within a couple of weeks, it was pretty much a steady stream. I bought a aftermarket radiator from a local shop that is made by "Performance Radiator". $199 out the door compared to dealer almost $600. It has a lifetime warranty so if it leaks in a couple of years, i'll just take it back. Copy and paste link below.

Thanks! Mine has slowed down after putting stop leak in it, but still leaves a small puddle. Ive noticed it only leaks when its cool and not running. hopefully I can get a little more time out of it. Seems like everything has started having minor problems lately. I just wish they made 'em like they use to. :(

I'm not a big fan of additives that would be flowing through my engine.....my was leaking too much for stop leak to work anyway. Mine would also drip continuously with engine off and cool. I was adding a 1/3 to 1/2 gal of coolant every morning before commuting to work. When I bought the ST, i had planned to keep it a long time as it is the perfect vehicle for my needs. I'm not sure now....to many issues for a car with under 40K miles!

Just my opinion, but I wont use any stop leak in a vehicle I plan to keep more than a few months. Its a temporary fix, if it holds, and it can gum up passages in the Heater core, Heads, etc... Replacing a heater core in a Sport Trac is a huge PITA.

Again, this is just my opinion.

I am with Dave...

Anything that the stop leak passes through it may affect they flow. Heater cores are normally the worst to change, not worth the risk.

The only stop leak I use is, Alumina-seal. It looks like powdered aluminum. I have used it for a temporary and permenant fix an many cars. Never had a problem with it causeing problems with any part of the cooling system. First time I used it was '73. Had a coolant leak on V8 motors intake gasket. Didnt have the means to self repair. Living in Army barracks. 5yrs latter sold the car. never leaked again.

That sols me on Alumina-seal. I keep a tube in my carry tool box. Probably have had 8 out of 10 successful uses of it.

That's the stuff I used, Eddie. Helped, but no fix. But, I haven't noticed more fluid on the carport from the other day so maybe it did.

Never thought about other places it might screw up. Oh well, too late now. I usually fork over the money to just replace stuff instead of temp fixes, especially with this one because I don't want to have to get another vehicle for a LONG time. But i didn't have the money to replace it right now so i was trying to get her to hang on a little longer. With 90,000 and a small radiator leak being my worst problem so far...I'm not complaining. :)
