overhead console with temp and direction out

hi all..just spent a grand fixing up my second 01..and i get it back and low and behold the overhead console with the direction and outside temperature is not working..

i tapped on it a couple of times and it lit back up only to quickly go back out again and now it will not work at all..

any fixes on this and if not does any one have a used one i can buy

and ofcourse what are the tricks to getting in their and fixing it??

Same thing happened to mine. Got a replacement from an Explorer at the local salvage yard for $10, and came with a different color plastic window which I prefer much over the original. Plug and play. Have been going on the replacement for 3 years now.

you guys were right..bought one on ebay for about 35 shipped and it was plug and play and the interior lights work and i think those are really expensive..
