Ok this might sound stupid but is it ok to use RP ATF instead of Mercon V. Does RP cover the requirments from ford? doing complete fluid change and would love to go with all RP.

I think it does, BUT I personally will never use any thing other then MercV in the ST tranny...



And the MercV is a 50/50 synthetic any way....

Unless the bottle says it meets or exceeds Mercon V specifications from Ford, do not use it.



I use AMSOIL ATF for my tranny. AMSOIL claims the exceed Mercon V Specifications.

O7 6 speed tranny's use "Mercon SP" (think it is a full synthetic). No dipstick on the 07 tranny's either.......

I discovered that my '05 doesn't have a dipstick either. Stick with Mercon V, either Motorcraft at the dealer, Wal-Mart sells Castrol Mercon V, and Mobil 1 ATF was recently labeled as Mercon V-rated. And Amsoil if they say it's okay.

actually a distick is located on the bottom of the tranny pan. Thats what a dealer mechanic told me.
