Kailua Kona, Hi
There is a lot of oil residue on the front of the upper oil pan. What is leaking? When checking my oil after 4,000 miles, the levels are perfect.

Could it be leaking just behind the under drive pulley? Is this common for a 2002 with 87,800 miles?

Pictures are taken of engine front, underneath the truck looking at the upper oil pan assembly.

DO you have to tear apart the engine to change that seal?

No motor tear down. You will need to pull the radiator shroud, belt, fan, and crank pulley.

Tools needed. Crank pulley puller, seal puller and installing tool. The last 2 makes crank seals easier. I have done it with out. Just more difficult.

If you have an understanding of tools and mechanics. It can be a DIY.
