Went out this morn and my trac won't start. Starter motor won't engage.

Everything seems to be working....except: message center won't light up,

turn sig indicators don't work, theft LED doesn't blink.... the batt eye is green.

Checked fuses....Any ideas?

Try the second key....

Try re locking all the doors and re try....

turn on the headlights, good and bright ???

Put the shifter in Neutral, then back into park...

Tks for the ans Todd....tried all except locking doors....

putting charge on batt now.....will get back to you.....

Try tapping the starter.....

IIRC, there is a TSB on it. It has nothing to do with the starter or electrical system. It is PCM related.

Failing Component:

Digital Instrument Panel

Description of Summary:

No start with instrument cluster inoperative.

The only thing I did different was leave all four windows down all night. This

morning I had to wipe the inside of the drivers door because of the wetness from

the heavy dew. Could it have been the moisture that caused this?

Maybe a rodent got inside and chewed the wires. We had a member a couple of years ago that posted about that happening. I never leave windows open when I am not in the vehicle.

Sorry to hear that your Trac won't start, I know I would be very disappointed.....but on a positive note, at least it's under warranty.

Alarm LED was blinking normally this morning....Engine started

and ran fine. I do believe it was the heavy dew night before last

and leaving windows down that created this problem. Excess

moisture probably dried out last night. Make sense?:D

That is weird. I would take it in and at least get it on record that you had the problem and they tried to fix it.

I'd hate to be making payments on a new truck that was not reliable.

Dropped it off at Freedom Ford..........for the 6th time since I

bought it.....:(

Wonder if the digital instrument panel has been redesigned for 08? In other words, if they fix it, is it likely to not happen again.

Let us know how it goes and what they find!

Good luck.

Just took mine back to the Ford Dealer today to get the headlight switch replaced and the parking brake release mechanism replaced. At 10,000 miles in 10 months I am getting a little wary of the Ford Quality.

Body shop fixed my $700 door ding real nice. I honestly cannot tell that it ever happened. Took them a week and a half to do it, though.
