To anybody who owns or has owned a 01-04 mustang GT, How did you like it? how is the power? does it handle well? is it worth the money? Most importantly how is the visability? it's my dreamcar so either way im getting it i just want to now how people feel about it, im getting one sometime in the next 5 months and i haven't taken one for a test drive yet, i want to see what you guys have to say

Had one, drove many. Use to show it. I recommend getting Zinc Yellow (or if you get an 04, Screaming yellow). I loved it, it was fun to drive. get a stick shift though. there are so many mods out there that you can do to a mustang, to make it your own, some cheap some not so cheap. as for visibility, you can see out of it just like any other car. The handling is ok, I had lowering springs on it with wider tires.

I traded it in for a turbo charged Mazda MX-5, because I like the smaller powerful able to take turns at well over 60mph autocross type of cars. But all in all, the mustang was a good car. I would certainly own another.

Mustangs are pony cars. The sooner to realize it, the better off you will be. The Mustang is not a sports car, it is a pony car. Keep saying that. Pony car, pony car, pony car, pony car.

I have a buddy that loves Mustangs. He has owned hundreds of them. He just moved to Florida and sold off all his cars, except for a Cobra he has.

I, personally, do not like Mustangs. IMO, you can not see squat, your butt sits on the floor, and they feel very heavy. We rented a 2007 drop top V6 while in Hawaii. It was fun to drive, but I have no desire to own one as primary transportation. I just do not like the way they feel.

My son has a 2000 Mustang convertible. Rear visibility is great as long as the top is down.

His is a V6/stick but I also drove a GT when we were shopping. The power was great (for me) but the GT's do ride much harder and I figure he is less likely to hurt himself in a V6. Do buy a BBK strut tower brace, especially if you get a ragtop. It is well worth the $150 and makes the car much quieter and more solid.

I work with a person tha has an '03 GT 5.0

with a Hand built Twin Turbo. Looks really strange when you lift the hood and the headers are backwards.

It is really scary to sit in the passeger seat. but he thinks it needs more power..

For now he is running only 10 lbs of boost. lowest the turbos can go. needs to rebuild the motor for more boost. Dont want to blow it up..

Sal A - he needs more power? What is it putting to the wheels now? 400+ I think that is plenty power for a daily driver...LOL

BTW...a group of us Foci owners took our cars to the track (road course) with the Mustangs.

It was blast seeing their faces as we blew by them on the straights and hugged their bumpers through the turns.

It was even better when the 650 HP Mustang was on my tail until we got to turn 5A/5B probably the most technical part of the track and I gained 10 cars lengths through the turns on him. He later blew his engine on the track.

SST,

My buddy and I were at a drag strip. He had a 1995 Escort GT. He was put next to a Mustang GT. The announcer was "Ok folks, here was have a Mustang GT against an Escort GT. This will be an easy kill for the Mustang." They did not know the Escort had a Turbo installed. As the race progressed, the Escort beat the mustang by one 1 second. The announcer says "Holy F#$K! I did not know Escorts could be that fast. I bet that Mustang driver will just keep driving to the gate after that loss!"

LOL

I miss my mustangs.

Last year for the 5.0 in a GT Stang was 1995 so that Stang must be one tricked out GT to be an '03 with a 5.0 and twin turbo.

I had an '02 and only drove it as a "cruiser" because it was pretty much stock and a stock GT can be left in the dust by some cars out there which includes the 4 door Nissan Maxima with little or no modifications to them.

I just sold my '94 GT with a 5.0 Cobra motor. I miss it. It was time to let it go. The guy that bought it rolled it last week, darn it !!

If you want a Mustang, then go for it. They are fun to drive. My wife is on her 3rd one. First was a 97 GT convertible, then a 2000 GT convertible, and she now has a 2002 GT hardtop. One thing we found out was that the convertible has less room inside than a hardtop. If the GT is stock, it really isn't that fast. Her current GT has 3.73 gears, CAI, aftermarket throttle body, Offroad X pipe, catback system, and would smoke the stock 2000 GT convertible. Also, the convertibles are about 300+ heavier.

Definitely get a 5 speed if you get one. The car actually gets about 22 MPG on the highway at 75 MPH. As mentioned, there are number of mods to do to the cars and lots of boards.

Handling is good and visibility is okay. Test drive some and shop around. We bought her last two off of ebay and saved money bigtime.

Because you can't do "Spirited" driving with an Automatic. Are you going to take it through any curved mtn roads? Manual is more fun and you can control the RPMs so much better w/ a stick. Rev matching, blipping the throttle and heal toe. If you can't do any of those or not interested in learning them an automatic might be best for you.

I suppose you think a sport trac is a TRUCK also

All SUV's are trucks (Truck based SUV's like the Sport Trac), but not all trucks are SUV's.

What is your point or do you not have one?

Tom

My point is, that in the purest form, a Sport Trac is as much a truck as a Mustang is a sports car. The only opinion is that in the eyes of the person. I own both, I traded in a truck (F350) for my sport trac. To me I would call the Sport Trac a "Pony truck", I still like it and am glad I to have not regretted it.

Nope. The Mustang is not a Sports Car. A Corvette is a Sports car. The Ford GT is an Exotic. The GTO along with the Challenger and Camaro are also pony/muscle cars. They are NOT Sports Cars. A Miata is a Sports Car, the Mustang is not a Sports Car.

The Trac is an SUV. Nothing more, nothing less. It can be used as a truck, but it is not a truck.

Tom

By definition, a sports car has two seats, ideally a manual transmission, and a ragtop.

I would still call a Corvette with a hardtop and automatic a sports car although maybe not a "pure" one. But now my head is starting to hurt.

I thought the Sport Trac was a Sport Luxury Utility Truck, i.e. SLUT. I forget who said it, but it is an SUV for people who need to haul dirt. Like me. :D
