If you want a cheep, great handling, and rear wheel drive car I would go with a Miata. Not a ton of power but it grips the turns nicely and is a blast to drive. They are also very simple vehicles so less to worry about breaking.

Ah yes, the Miata is a blaring sign of gayness when a male is driving it, up there with the Honda Fit...except that the Miata's debut commercials weren't designed to target the gay demographics.
