what does a front hub failing sound like ?at 30 mph to forty five before and after all is quiet

137000mile

i inspected the under carriage and found nothing lose or missing broken :banghead:

Driveline sounds are difficult; most likely it's going to be a grinding or rumbling sound that follows speed. There are a lot of threads on this website and a good DIY in the Projects section. Search "hub." There are also plenty of YouTube videos available for general info.

rods,

Often times the rumbling sound will change when the steering wheel is moved slightly either right or left like when you are changing lanes on a freeway. That causes the load to shift slightly from one side to the other and often you will hear the rumbling stop and start as the vehicle moves from side to side.

This testing method assumes that only one front wheel hub bearing is bad....which is the usual case....Very rare that both hub bearings would go out at the same time.
