Hi Folks. I know it's been a LONG time since I've been on here. I thought that since I didn't have much of an update on my dad after his accident, it would be best to hold off until there was some news. Rodger dropped me an email to check up on me so I figured I'd better get on here and say Hi!

Dad was chemically burned during the accident, had a broken hip and lost his sight. Since then, the burns have healed nicely. He lost a lot of weight and got sick many times in a hospital while they treated him. His muscle loss meant they couldn't operate on the hip until he built that back up. So, he transferred out of the hospital and into a nursing home which does rehab, only a few miles from his home in PA. They have been working all his muscles except for the leg which has the broken hip. It fused back together, unfortunately, but he got his strength back. He can stand up and walk with a walker on one leg! He is scheduled for hip replacement on April 25 in Philadelphia.

He has had some eye doctors come and look into his eyes and say that the damage is irreversible. However, they don't give any good reasons besides excess pressure on the brain, loss of oxygen or shock. Of which NONE of those happened during the accident. As soon as he gets this hip replaced and can go to an eye center, we're hoping to get him looked at. Because he is mostly bed-ridden except during physical therapy, he doesn't have the ability to go anywhere to see a specialist. So, we're hoping someone can give us a valid reason why the eye is this way and if it can in fact be fixed.

Dad has decided that he wants to get rid of his '07 Orange ST V8 because, even if he gets his eyesight back, he doesn't want to be climbing in and out of it. I told him that I wanted it because it was special to him and I will be taking it probably in May. In the mean time, I need to find a home for my '07 Red ST V8. I will probably put it up on the swap and sell to see if there are any takers. There is nothing wrong with it, I just can't see having 2 STs right now. Mine is about to turn 49k miles and that's from driving back and forth to PA every other week to see Dad.

Anyway, thanks for everyone's patience. I saw a few posts come up during the search asking if anyone heard anything. I appreciate the concerns!!!

Pat, I wish you and your family all the best. Keep the faith during the trying times.

Pat, I was just thinking of your dad the day. I'm so sorry to hear about his sight loss. I know his ST was his pride and joy. Please give him my regards for a speedy recovery and tell him not to give up. Our prayers are with him.

Though officially he did not suffer the eye injury in the accident,,, I have to think he did.

By that, his body was under tremendous pressure, physically as he was literally crushed. That pressure went every within his body. I could see how it could have easily caused swelling with his brain and that area in general.

Glad to hear he is able to get up..

Literally,,, one step at a time.

Best of luck with everything.
