Hi everyone, I have a 2004 4x4 ST, it has about 75,000 miles on it. I had a weird noice that started last week...it is kind of like a really loud whining, and kind of like a hybrid/electric sound, but really loud. It gets loud as you speed up. But when you stop it goes away, but if you get out and listen under the car, you can still hear a little bit of that noise. It started last week, i parked it and went on a camping trip. Came back and it was fine. Now it started again. The only similarity I can think of is heat.

Someone told me that the oil filter could have gotten plugged? And it

is causing this noise?

Any ideas? It is due for an oil change already...so im not sure.

Please help.

Thank you,

George T.

Sounds like the clutch on the cooling fan due to the heat is locking the fan and doing its job to turn the fan to cool the engine.....

Do you mean its not doing the job to turn the fan? Since the clutch is locking it up?

But would this cause such noise when driving too?

Thank you so much,

George T
