If you have the ability to walk short distances, a carrier/ramp thingy is made to fit into your trailer hitch. Might be more cost effective than an electric lift that goes in the bed. Google 'handicapped scooter carriers' or try the sites below.

Good luck, Bob

With these items, you can just 'drive' the chair right onto the platform! They have built-in ramps so you don't have to lift anything. These aren't lifts, just a rack to put the chair on. I not gettin what you mean. Do you really want a power lift to put it up inside the bed?? If you are, then those would be custom units that would be at a handicapped specialist store. Try to google handicapped vehicle modifications. The only hang up I can see is your vehicle may have to be inspected by DMV to make sure it complies with their rules.(they do that here in Jersey) Then on top of that, you might need an endorsement on your license to prove to them that you can properly operate the vehicle. You might be getting into a whole can of worms here. The ramp thing is not a permanent modification to the vehicle, so no restrictions. Whatever, Bob

Have a wheelchair lift for myi son on my wife's minivan similar to the one shown on STanner's pic above. We've gotten conflicting info from various "authorities" re: what to do with the license plate. Some have told us it has to be visible, which means moving it to the lift itself, because everywhere else on the back of the vehicle is obscured by the lift, or if we stick it up on the back window, it's not lighted at night. But others have told us that won't work as the lift is attached to the vehicle via the trailer hitch, thereby classifying the lift as a "trailer", and we aren't allowed to attach the vehicle's plate to the trailer . . .

We're happy to do whatever we need to do, just wish we could get a straight answer somewhere . . .
