Hi to all i have owned my sport trac for about 5 years now and its time to up grade some stiff on it. The first thing i wanted to do was get an amazing sounding exhaust! Its a 2001 with 135,234 on it and i want to give it a face lift and make it look good as new. If any one has any suggestions on exhaust pleas tell me, any other suggestions any one has thank you in advance. Thanks again all. Erik

Flowmaster 40. Arguably the best V6 sound our gen1s can make. I upgraded from a Flowmaster 50 SUV, which was great inside, but too mellow on the outside. The 40 hit the sweet spot. What drone I hear inside, is nothing to complain about...and I'm picky.

Single out. Stock pipes. I do have an aftermarket intake. Don't know how or if it affects the exhaust note.

Flowmaster 40 Series Love It

My 04 has the magnaflow on it, Decent sound, Low rumble, and quiet...

my 2003 has off road y-pipe / cat / 3 inch in dual 2.5 out flowmaster 40... and JBA headers.

Loud as heck.. .LOL

But as long as you replace the OEM muffler with any thing, it will flow better and give MPG increases...

THE PROBLEM is once most people hear the sound they keep their foot in it to make it sound that way and burn more gas or never see the MPG gains...

I can baby my 03 and get a high of 27 highway, normally around 24, and 18-21 around town.

Beating it normally I get 15 around town all day....

Not to bad, So all the parts are doing something..

Right after I bought my '04 STA in 2004, I had a FM Delta Flow 40 single-out installed. It sounded great. Nice, mellow rumble at idle, and a good growl when you put your foot into it. I was even complimented on the sound at a stop light by a guy driving a Corvette ZR-1. He asked if I had V8, 'cause it sounded so good to him.

Last year I added the Random Technology Y-Pipe and high-flow cat, and this gave it a little deeper tone.

Go with Flowmaster. Doesn't matter much if it's single or dual exit. You won't be disappointed by the sound. I've also had FM mufflers on a Mustang GT. To me, there's nothing like the Flowmaster sound!

The consensus is NO GAIN IN MILEAGE. Those that claim an increase are either in denial or have "convinced" themselves of their well spent $$$.

Depends. I put a Gibson cat-back on my '08 (4.0, same engine) and if I keep it to 70 or less I get 22 on the highway where the truck is rated at 19. And that's going by the dash computer on a trip. City mpg is no different.

I just recently added a flowmaster delta 40, and I have to say I love the sound! I was worried that it would be too loud, but it has a nice little rumble to it.

I would like to purchase the FM Delta Flow 40. Any suggestions on where to buy or if no suggestions, around what price range should I expect to pay? Thanks for any help.

performancepeddler.com Then take it in to a place that will swap out the mufflers. Also take out the resonator
