DPFE's suck

Did the driver side valve cover gasket replacement yesterday. No more leaks. Threw a code this morning when decelerating to pull in the driveway. P0401.... the only one I've ever gotten. Each time, the DPFE sensor was bad. It's happened three times and I think this will be the fourth time.



Does anyone else go through those damned things like I do? I remember when they were $35 each. Now, they're up to $65. Fortunately, I found a Motorcraft DPFE4 new in the bag for $35 on eBay.

Replaced a few on my Areostar van, make sure you get the proper tubes to attach to the DPFE, fuel lines or other tubes can't handle the heat or gasses, they collapse/degrade pretty quickly.

I believe I'm on a 4th one myself on my 2001



Symptoms always P0401 and Engine idle rough. Changed sensor each time no CEL return and idle back to normal.
