Three months to the day after DaimlerChrysler (DCX, news, msgs)announced that "all options" were on the table for its struggling U.S. Chrysler unit, private-equity firm Cerberus Capital Management said it would buy an 80.1% stake in Chrysler for $7.41 billion.

Wow! Someone has money to burn....

Hhhm, Daimler paid 36B in 1998 for Chrysler, today Cerberus pay 7.4B for 81% of the company...sounds like a good deal to me just from those facts alone.

Daimler was trying to cut it's losses, and Cerberus bought a "flip this company" special.

The latest issue of Automobile magazine had an article about Chrysler.

They DCX screwed it up for themselves.
