my wife's 02 expedition had a similiar problem--- rough idle, hesitant, skipping, sputtering------ then a check eng light-- took to advance auto parts- put on scanner (for free)--- cylinder 1 misfire--- changed plugs/boots --- some better-- then got even worse--- replaced fuel filter--- poured in some seafoam (good stuff) problems just got worse--- check engine light on again--- detected same code--- replaced ignition coil on cylinder 1 --- code gone--- runs better than it did the day we bought it --------- changed it out myself--- 4 mins tops????? Gavin,

Kohler Command 13 with AMSOIL in it. No Mobil 1 for me.

Honestly, I can not imagine needing anything more than a 13 HP engine. This thing will climb hills in 5th gear while the blades are running without breaking a sweat.

I assume your tractor is a little bigger than out STX-38 Motorsports Edition

I agree about the power. Back when I was in high school, all riding lawn mowers had 8 HP engines which were plenty for the 36" decks. Then they went to 10 or 11 HP and we thought they were nuts.

My JD is an '04 GX255 with 54" deck. I also push a 48" blade in the winter. Plenty of power. although I am glad it is bigger than my neighbor's GT235. (Makes me feel like more of a man!)
