IS IT NORMAL FOR THE BOTTOM BELT PULLEY TO GO BAD? IT MADE OF HARD RUBBER AND SOME OF THE GROVES ARE WARN. FORD WANT $500.00 TO REPLACE. i ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT FORD WENT BACK TO THE METAL PULLEY. WAS THERE A RECALL. TRUCKS ONLY HAVE 77,000 MILES.
 
There was No metal Vs rubber pulley..........



The crank pulleys are known for going bad..... We have seen a rash of them...

Todd Z, how do you determine that the pulley goes bad, other then breaking into pieces? Just curious, never heard of a pulley failing before. Thanks...

Normally a knocking noise is heard or a squeaking before it fails..... You could physically lightly pry on the pulley face to see if there is movement on the rubber or inspect it for cracks or chunks mising.....
