ANY EXPERIENCE with growling noise under throttle only

My 4.2 V8 4x4 75K creates loud growling or rumbles under throttle but never during idle or in cruise control or in neutral . seems like a loose throttle body, no loss of power, has anyone experienced this ?

Any one open your air filter and not put it back properly???



Sounds like your hearing the air in the intake.



This noise comes when aftermarket intakes are on the truck or some one looses a clip where the air filter goes or its not put back together properly.

A astute observation and I will check that anyway because I have changed the air filter lately . But would it not still make the noise when revving in neutral ? In This case it does not

They spend hundreds of dollars on mufflers and exhaust systems just to get that growling sound.

LOL Rich I know your right about THAT sound, and its does sound like that too.

{ Its has been determined that the Growling sound is coming from Transfer case. }

Remember it only makes the sound under throttle load (giving it gas)
