2001 Sport Trac 4 wheel drive not engaging

Hi. My 4 wheel drive does not engage. Last winter the switch would engage periodically and now it does not work at all. I've read a few posts with a similar problem that state there is a problem with the shift motor.

Does anyone have a wire diagram for a 2001 Explorer Sport Trac so I can test it? Also, does anyone else have a suggestion of what the problem might be? Thanks! -Steve

I had this problem with my 01' and it was the module. I got one from a junkyard for $75.

Stephen - do you hear a clicking sound from the passenger side kick panel when you turn to 4w high? If yes than the problem most likely is the rust / corrosion is stopping it from engaging. You can take a hammer and tap on the 4x4 motor to see if it will free up.

FIX FOLLOW UP - The problem was the control module. I replaced it with a new one and the four wheel drive works fine. Thanks to all for helping!
