I did a ton of research on the noise. Seams like the tensioners might not always work She will make a little 2 second rattle at cold start and some times like a pinging noise above 3000 rpm. I had the truck since new and always did my own oil changes at or before 3k. Same Valvoline brand oil...
Mine just rolled 210,000 motor or trans never been opened. Only issue is the rear end had to be rebuilt. Due for frontend work and brakes soon.
Timing chain does rattle on cold starts but not while running.
Might take the gamble and run it till it make noise at idle all the time? I don't...
If you have LSD then the friction plates are worn out in which cause axle shaft side to side movement C-clip set up. Axle shafts should be good but the spider gears might be toast (worn uneven). Its a wear item if you have LSD.
Send back your lights to PIAA they will send you new ones. Call first to get your return authorization #. The only thing you will pay for is the shipping. PIAA has been good to me. Great company.
I have the Summit racing 4:10 motorsports gears. They will fit but you will get more noise out of them. They are differant than the ford truck OEM 4:10 gear set.
Never used this before but if I had one of those battery cars I would try this route.
$4000 is it worth it with that many miles? No for me.

Got my stuff from summit racing. The ST is a 8.8 31 spline axle set up. It was cheaper to buy the whole carrier with carbon clutches and just use the guts when doing the LSD. It will be a lot better to pop that carrier out of your going to do this yourself. Do some research on rubuilding the 8.8...
I bleed blue but we had just brought a new Hyundai Sonata 2.T and love it. It was the test drive that sold us.
We wanted a fusion and drove both the same time.
Never throught we would leave Ford but we did.
If you have lots of miles on the limited slip and never changed the clutch packs now is the time. One way is to raise the rear axle off the ground and pull the tire in and out of the axle you may find lot of play when the friction plates get worn out. The friction plates act like a spacer for...
Go with the v10. I own one and glad I brought it rather that an oil burner. Cost wise its a better deal in the long run. On the other hand if your going into trucking transit operation mode that go with a 7.3 if you can find one.
towing with full load 6-9 mpg
running empty 10-14 mpg
V10...
