OK, Its time to do a tranny service! 2004 model, pulled it in, then pulled it out. I need the truck daily, so I need to have the right stuff. No plug on the oil pan to drain or fill it. Dont see a plug on the side of the trans either, unless its behind the heat shield. This one's a 4x4. I have 5 qts Mercon V, and hopefully the right trans filter. Do I need to buy a pan with the factory filler plug or what? Time to check the forum!

must remove the pan and make a mess..... the gasket on the pan is reusable But I always replace.... I hate re using stuff....
Filter and fluid with pan drop only is I believe 6-7Qts needed.... and DONT overfill.... Start at 4 and go from there..

THE BIG PROBLEM IS: Since there isnt a filler plug in the pan, and dont see one on the trans, how to fill it with fluid! I'm thinking I need to buy a pan with the filler plug, or install one on my pan.

If there is a filler plug on the trans, where is it?

No dipstick, 2004 sport track 4x4

Doorman makes a replacement pan with drain plug for 4x4. I put one on my '04 4x2. You must use the 4x4 filter. Pan is about $50 on amazon. I wanted to be able to dump the pan with a drain, plus the extra QT of fluid.
Or you can buy a self install plug. Get the one from B&M. It has a larger drain hole, than the others out there.

OMG! Thank you Todd Z! I don't know how I missed it! I might even keep the damn thing now! Is it because if they don't have the drain-fill plug on the pan? I'm gonna install a drain plug on the pan to keep it easier to change filters. Wow, that made my day!

Thank you Todd Z!
